An Oakland, California native, I grew up listening to all sorts of music. While playing in and forming groups in the east bay, I developed a serious passion recording local groups at home after recording his own music with friends. After graduating high school, I moved to Baltimore, Maryland to attend the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University received degrees in recording arts & sciences as well as jazz voice performance.

I was fortunate to continue my audio engineering education under the mentorship of Scott Metcalfe and Ed Tetreault, two of the most thoughtful and talented recording engineers I’ve met. In Baltimore, I spent time outside of school recording sessions and leading the audio team at Keystone Korner, where both emerging and grammy winning jazz artists regularly perform. In addition to Keystone, I worked as an engineer on location, in live settings, and in the studio.

I spent a year and a half after university in Durham, North Carolina and worked out of NightSound Studios and Manifold Recording as house engineer. During this time I fell in love with Appalachian music and bluegrass. I am at home recording indie bands, jazz combos, chamber music, orchestras, and folk. I particularly love capturing the powerful and fleeting energy of live performances.
